The concept and use of blogs appeared and spread at the end of the last century. People who’ve been born before the millennials still remember the time when everyone had a blog which was a prestigious and pretty popular occupation (and eventually became 2000’s aesthetic).
This was another way to tell stories, express thoughts and opinions online (when Instagram didn’t take over the world yet and there were no pseudo philosophers with their «deep» long reads).
The theme of blogs was also very common in the entertainment industry. Images of bloggers have been everywhere in various films and TV series.
To date, such heroes as Carrie Bradshaw, Gossip Girl (Dan Humphrey), and Barney Stinson have become the most memorable for me! Their characters and blogging style left a colorful imprint in my memory, which inspires me now.
I also want to combine Carrie’s daydreaming nature and lightness, Barney’s dedication and love for blogging, Dan Humphrey’s unbiasedness, and open-mindedness.
I still have a very abstract but interesting flashback moment of how, when I was five, I first saw a laptop on TV. It made such a strange impression on me since I did not understand what I just saw.
The reason behind my inventiveness of new ways to entertain myself at childhood was that I’m the only child my parents had. I still clearly remember how I took the magazine, set it in front of me, made a mouse from improvised materials. Thus, without suspecting it, I imagined myself as a blogger! My childish game now smoothly passes into my direct duty – my future profession, if you will?
Coincidence? Nah, I don’t believe in coincidences.
There has always been an uncertain attitude towards journalists. And journalists have always had difficult relationships with the outside world. But in any case, we need journalists as they are the source of all information and a filter from the flood of lies.
I was interested in one case called Branzburg v. Hayes which tells about Paul Branzburg. First of all, Paul Branzburg was a full-time reporter for the Louisville, Kentucky Courier-Journal. In the late 1960s, Branzburg began concentrating his journalistic efforts on covering the use and production of illegal drugs in the Louisville area.
On November 15, 1969, Branzburg published an article documenting how two young people produce marijuana drugs. The article said that Branzburg promised his sources that he would not provide their identities. However, later Branzburg was summoned to testify against the very incidents he had reported.
He refused to identify, but the court of the first instance denied his allegations that there was a reporter’s privilege both in Kentucky and in constitutional law. On appeal, the Kentucky Appeals Court rejected the Branzburg petition. Then Branzburg filed a lawsuit in the US Supreme Court.
Branzburg was summoned to the court to disclose the sources of a report on drug trafficking published by him, while two other applicants were summoned to testify before a grand jury about the events they observed while covering the events in Black Panther.
According to the analysis of the first amendment, the court compared the absence of the privilege of a reporter to the fact that journalists do not have greater access to public affairs than ordinary citizens. In other words, the constitution does not give journalists completely unlimited rights listed in press freedom; rather, this freedom has always contained limitations.
The court noted that the only exception in which the reporter “could claim privilege would have been if it had been possible to prove that the government had acted in bad faith, for example, seeking disclosure for the sake of disclosure and could not demonstrate a real need for testimony” or the agenda was not related with the current legal issue.
In cases of protection of its sources, the court ruled that the journalist’s interest in maintaining confidentiality will lead to the fact that many criminals will avoid judicial responsibility for their actions. While this confidentiality may be part of the freedoms hoped for by the press, the public interest in prosecuting and punishing criminals far outweighs the journalist’s interest in confidentiality.
The court came to the conclusion that it is much better to do something with a crime — for example, to bring the perpetrator to justice — than to simply write about the events that occurred in the commission of the crime.
The federal judicial system, of course, never allowed journalists to refuse to testify. Creating such a privilege would lead to the absurd conclusion that any criminal who simply spoke to a journalist could have avoided responsibility.
The Supreme Court found that the fact that journalists receive information in confidence does not give them the right to conceal this information during a government investigation. In the end, the journalists decided that they would better go to prison and be held responsible for their actions. In this case, the journalist chose to go to imprisonment rather than reveal his source of information.
My focus at the moment was a project called “Digital identity”. A girl named Evelina became my subject of study. The essence of the project was to investigate (like a stalker or a girlfriend, if you will) and examine in detail the person to compile his digital identity.
Evelina is my groupmate. Judging by her social networks, I learned that she was born on the same day as I was on June 23rd, 2000. She is 18 years old. She was born and raised in Taldykorgan, graduated High Gymnasium school №12. Many of her early Instagram posts suggest that she’s from there. But now she is currently located in the city of Almaty, and more precisely in the city of Kaskelen located near Almaty. She is a student and studies at the University of Suleyman Demirel at the Faculty of Journalism.
She really loves her university because first of all she was shocked in a good way by how the atmosphere is so friendly and second because this place gave her an opportunity to increase her own temp of growth of skills. She is very thankful for her new friends, and again she loves SDU and that’s the reason behind choosing it.
Evelina, being a future journalist and student of journalism school, is very interested in publicism, it’s genres, news in our country and in the world as a whole. She believes that journalism is a profession that can give all the abilities to develop yourself in all spheres of our life.
Some of the accounts that interest Evelina
She is a diversified person interested in literature, art, music. Evelina is a connoisseur of literature, as evidenced by her subscription to various communities dedicated to books. She also has Instagram posts where she analyzes the book “Alma-Ata Informal” (which, by the way, was interesting to read and useful to learn about the new book!).

Evelina also subscribes to communities dedicated to psychology and is interested in its use in life. She is interested in the culture of Asia, namely Japan, and appreciates this aesthetics. Her Instagram profile has a quote “Create Yourself”, which sounds very motivational and confident, which corresponds to the image of Evelina. She also wrote “Someday I will go on a trip around the world” which speaks of her burden to know the world around her, which is very commendable.
Evelina appreciates aesthetics in all its manifestations. She loves and appreciates the art of photography and practices it herself. She loves to photograph and capture the world around her, her acquaintances and friends, as well as herself. She clearly appreciates beauty in everything: in the city, in people, in women, in art, in cinema and so on.

I mean, what a beauty she is!? ^^
As a youth representative, Evelina loves listening to music. After studying her playlists inside and out, I realized that she has a very diverse taste in music preference – she is a music lover. But what I noticed is that she listens to Kazakh national performers music. Kazakh music meets rap or an alternative performed by foreign artists.
Like any progressive young lady nowadays, she is interested in trends in the fashion industry. She follows trends and interesting innovations in fashion. She is also interested in famous fashion representatives: models and Instagram models. Evelina herself is very similar to the same models. She is tall, beautiful and slim girl folded like a supermodel! She skillfully uses her extraordinary beauty and posts great shots of herself.
The description in her LinkedIn profile says that she wants to realize her potential in the most favorable terms. There is a great desire in herself in general to replenish the luggage of existing knowledge. Also, she says that she already has some experience in the local magazine of the city of Taldykorgan and currently she is working as a staff journalist in life journal “TDK”.
She describes herself as a creative human being. She has such skills as writing skills, mobility, high print speed, data analyzing, networking, knowledge in Russian and English languages and, also in political science. At the same time, she’s interested in all branches of the profession, ready for difficulties, possessing inherent sociability, the inquisitiveness of mind, creativity, perseverance.
